Pain brought Stephanie to yoga, It was 2006.Years as a journalist covering food & beverage, travel & lifestyle news in Hong Kong and overseas were exciting and eyes wide opening experiences, but they also overloaded her body. Ignored the signals of chronic pain in the neck, shoulders and lower back finally led to one day her body said stop, she couldn't move her hands, With hope of relieving pain, Stephanie started visiting a chiropractor three times a week. A year later, those visits were replaced by alternate days of yoga practice. Committed to practise help her physically and reduced stressful feeling at work. More questions about yoga and life in general emerged, “How physical practice of yoga related to everyday life and becoming a better person?”
She also wondered why her beloved teachers could be so knowledgeable and strong, and yet so humble and joyful. The curiosity of yoga expand in every themed workshops and short courses attended. So when she shifted to work as freelance journalist in 2008, she joined a teacher training course and subsequently start teaching yoga. Eager to know more about the ancient wisdom of yoga gradually lead her to India twice, she went to Kaivalyadhama yoga institute in 2010 and 2015, where she could immerse herself in the authentic taste of yoga, and had a glimpse of yoga philosophy.
Stephanie feels deeply blessed to be under the guidance of her teacher Dario Calvaruso, who is a role model of living one's true self, And continuously inspiring her not only in yoga practice and teaching, but also among every aspect of life. She is also grateful for Martina Lee who encourage her first step towards teaching yoga.Stephanie's class is well-structure, encouraging and fun. She believes a good yoga practice is a great chance to start the dialog within one's own body and mind, which can gradually go beyond the mat into life. From there one become more conscious about his or her words and deems. Fully present on the yoga mat is the key, In her class, guided breaths and movement is essential, so that we can be present, to control our body and be aware of our feeling, and mind will not drifted away. Stephanie will give options during that practice so that students can progress at their manageable level. Expected to leave the mat feeling energized with lightness of mind together with a smile.
